Time to get back to planning mode for your wedding, now that restrictions are easing in WA!

Time to get back to planning mode for you wedding, now that restrictions are easing in WA!

With Perth now in phase four, it is officially time to get back to planning your dream wedding. While this might seem like a daunting task, remember, you’ve already done all the hard work and we are here to help!

Below we’ve outlined an easy four step process, to make sure your wedding plans get back on track.

Step 1: What does phase 4 mean?

With the government having put out the WA Roadmap, it’s easy to get an understanding of what phase four is. Below we’ve outlined a few key parts of phase four, that will affect your wedding planning.

  • All events permitted except for large scale, multi-stage music festivals
  • All existing gathering limits and the 100/300 rule removed
  • Gathering limits only determined by WA’s reduced 2sqm rule
  • Alcohol can be served as part of unseated service arrangements
  • Unseated performances permitted at venues such as concert halls, live music venues, bars, pubs and nightclubs

Step 2: Deciding on a new wedding date

Deciding on a wedding date is probably one of the hardest tasks you’ll face, but remember you’ve done it once – you can do it again.

The biggest thing you need to consider at the moment is your guests. How many of your guests are international or interstate? With the uncertainty of when WAs hard board closure will lift, you may want to plan for a 2021 or event 2022 wedding to accommodate for those guests.

If you’re keen to walk down the aisle ASAP, Spring is just around the corner. The beautiful months of September – November offer amazing floral choices, warm weather that is perfect for an outdoor wedding as it won’t leave your guests sweating and most importantly, availability of DJs compared to the business months.

For those that want that extra time to plan summer could be the option for you. December – February will guarantee you warm weather and people will be well and truly in the festival season by then.

Step 3: Contacting your vendors

This step is crucial as it’s the one that puts your wedding day back together and with so many couples wanting to tie the knot in the next 12 months, vendor availability can be limited. Your vendors consist of the venue, entertainment, photographer, celebrant, caterer and more. Most of your previously booked wedding vendors would have had a postponement policy, given the abnormal circumstances. This means getting back in contact with them ASAP is important to make sure they can accommodate your needs for your new date.

Many vendors will have special terms and conditions in case of a second wave of COVID-19. For example, Streamline Entertainment have made sure clients can hold onto their deposits and re book when desired in the event of a second outbreak.

Step 4: Contacting your loved one

Get the address book out! Now it’s time to tell your friends and family! Whether you want to send an update in the mail or through the wonders of social media, let the crew know so they can save the date.
