After initially exploring the roots of modern dance music, I found its core in African / American rhythmic genres. These genres such as jazz, funk, soul and disco engaged me like no other and led me to sourcing them, and their modern derivatives, on vinyl during my teens.
My travels through Canada, England / Europe for over 8 years and time in Melbourne have all contributed to my collection.
As a natural progression collecting vinyl fueled the need to share the wealth and finding a venue in order to do this.
In 2003, Funk Club at Leederville was founded by Jimmy “ The Lips “ Murphy and myself.
For 5 years, at the Leederville we ran this successful live music venue together.
It was here I cut my teeth every Friday, managing DJ’s for the whole venue & sourcing new acts / curating visuals for the night.
The years that followed have given me the privilege to share my collections of FUNK / SOUL / DISCO / BOOGIE / AFRO & MOST THINGS RHYTHMIC at various venues such as The Rosemount, The Cott, Freo Social, Otherside Brewery, Nowhere Man, Station & Cypher Bar.

Recently receiving a birthday song request (at venue before the requested artists concert) that I would never usually play, led me to downloading the track (laptop / controller rig) and the guests were so happy they promptly booked a large function before leaving.
Club venue:
Playing 7″ records as a part of a collective (Melbourne/Perth) for our 5 year anniversary party and having breakdancers ask me to DJ at their next event.
