I try to leave Western Australia to explore the world at least 5-6 times a year. Brazil is my favourite country to visit, specifically Iguazu Falls and Rio de Janeiro. I’m an avid Freo Dockers fan, so I’m usually at Optus Stadium for every home game. Other passions include tasting unique wines from around the world and avoiding going to work.
In 2016, I was the programmer and promoter for an entire tent at the Southbound festival in Dunsborough. The festival was essentially completely set up, and then wild bushfires caused the cancellation of the entire event.
The promoter of Southbound managed to pull together a replacement gig for one of the headliners, Disclosure, at HBF Stadium in Perth, and asked me to be the support act.
Witnessing the community and business sectors navigate through the catastrophe to successfully rearrange a full-house event at HBF Stadium within a span of 48 hours was nothing short of astounding. It was an honour to contribute to this effort, a unique experience that has been etched in my memory forever.
